John D. Betteridge, MD
      Betteridge, a South Jersey native, comes to LGI from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD after an eleven year career as an active duty medical officer in the US Army. Dr Betteridge received a Bachelor’s degree in History at Rutgers University in 1998 and a Doctor of Medicine at Temple University in 2004. He completed Internal Medicine Internship and Residency training, then Gastroenterology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr Betteridge spent 6 months during his fellowship focusing on Inflammatory Bowel Diseases at the University Of Maryland’s IBD Program. Following Gastroenterology fellowship Dr Betteridge co-founded the first IBD specific specialty clinic in the Department of Defense, growing this specialty practice to over 1,000 patients with IBD in just 4 years. Dr Betteridge has co-authored more than 30 academic publications and abstracts; he has received numerous awards and honors including Walter Reed Internal Medicine’s Most Outstanding Graduating Resident in 2007, Outstanding Teaching Fellow in 2011, and Outstanding Attending in 2015. Dr Betteridge’s practice focuses on IBD but also enjoys caring for patients with the entire spectrum Digestive Disease. He is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
